All the stages of a butterfly
The oldest group has a live experiment – growing butterflies. Katie got some eggs and they’ve recently grown into the caterpillar stage. The kids learned that butterflies lay their eggs on the underside of leaves to protect them from predators. Katie made giant leaves from construction paper and the kids all cut out eggs to tape underneath them. Now that the caterpillars have hatched, they are preparing for the chrysalis stage by making their own and hanging them from the branches Katie has hung from the ceiling.
