The Oldest Group read the story of Pandora’s Box – carried by Pandora that, when opened by her, unleashed many terrible things on mankind – ills, toils and sickness, – and  hope (Wikipedia). Afterward they made thousands of ” good things and terrible things” (drawings on black construction paper) and hung them up on threads from the ceiling, to look like they were flying out of Pandora’s box… ...

Last week Beatrice’s dad came in and gave the whole school a presentation on what he does and the kinds of equipment he uses for his lab work at Harvard University.  He put on his whole gear -  coveralls, face shield, rubber gloves and shoe covers!  The kids got to try everything on. ...

On Friday the middle school (whoops, I mean the “Drawing Kids”) got to put on their chef’s hats and made a recipe for Cheesy Chips by student helper Dan.  They had a sheet showing everything they needed to make them which incorporated one of their drawing examples, triangles (the chips).   Here’s the recipe: One knife  🙂 Three piece of cheese (essential to the project) Seven chips A Plate Put chips on plate Cut cheese Put cheese on chips on plate Put in oven EAT ... ...

The Vehicle Kids have now become the Drawing Kids. They will be drawing each day, with a different format. Drawing at school is not so common for many children; there is usually a more tactile component of projects.  The goal is to have the kids feel drawn (sic) to the idea of drawing, to feel comfortable and somewhat empowered to discover creativity.
